About Us

Social Welfare Activities (SWA), Inc. is a 501-C-3, tax-exempt organization based in Gaithersburg, Maryland.  It was founded in 2004.  The mission of SWA is to assist persons in need.  We strive to help those who are seeking to further their education and their economic situation as they work to become more self-sufficient economically and contribute in a positive way to their communities.

SWA Welcomes Newly-Arriving Afghans - Your Donations Can Help (All donations are tax-deductible)  

Social Welfare Activities (SWA) is continuing to assist those in need, including refugees in our area. The majority of refugees assisted by SWA so far have been “ SIV” * families from Afghanistan. SWA is actively working with 3 of the 9 Congressionally-Approved Resettlement Agencies who assist these families to settle in America.   In the next few weeks the processing of newly- arrived Afghan refugees will be completed. SWA stands ready to help with essentials needs. You can help too by donating today.
